05/15/2026
This weekend marks an important race for SIGMA P1 as their new car the G5 EVO will race the first official Sport Prototipo race event as a separate class inside the grid of a multi-class 2 Hour endurance race in Interlagos. To highlight this moment, let’s take a closer look at the G5 EVO and discover what it brings to the track, while running with a SADEV gearbox, the SLR90-20.
The Sigma P1 G5 EVO, an important milestone for Brazilian and Latin American Prototype racing.
The new Sigma P1 G5 EVO is the official car of the Brazilian Sport Protótipo Brasil series. Designed to be lighter, more aerodynamic and easier to drive, operate and maintain, it delivers outstanding performance for its class. Weighing just 1,000 kg, reaching up to 275 km/h and generating more downforce than its own weight from 200 km/h, it is a true racing prototype delivered ready for endurance competition.
Built on a reinforced chrome molybdenum tube frame chassis, the Sigma P1 G5 EVO features a carbon fiber front crash box and other advanced safety structures, an FIA FT3 homologated 100 L fuel cell and an onboard fire suppression system. An exclusive electric onboard air conditioning system and a fully automated electronic architecture controlled by the FuelTech FT700 VCU complete a package that combines technology, safety and exceptional value.
The SADEV gearbox: the SLR90-20
At the heart of the car is a 6.2-liter Chevrolet LT2 V8 engine (Corvette C8) delivering 510 horsepower and paired with a SADEV six speed sequential transaxle, the SLR90-20. Gear changes are controlled with paddle shift, allowing precision and focusing for the driver.
Known for its modern architecture, lightweight construction and proven performance in demanding endurance applications, the SLR90-20 offers a perfect balance of strength, efficiency and reliability for high performance prototype racing. Its bold design features a rear mounted differential chosen by SADEV’s engineering team to improve mass distribution,
Already well established in many applications such as Circuit, Endurance or Single-seater competitions, the SLR90‑20 demonstrates its versatility and robustness, with a torque capacity of 500 Nm for endurance racing and up to 700 Nm for hill climb applications.
This is the first time that SIGMA P1 is running with a SADEV Gearbox, a first project highlighted by Pedro Fetter, mechanical engineer at Sigma P1, who explains:
"Having worked with SADEV’s SLR90-20 during our early engineering careers, we were delighted to learn about the latest SLR90-20, a design that perfectly meets the requirements of our endurance prototype in Brazil. SADEV’s commercial and technical teams have been outstanding partners throughout this development. The resulting G5 EVO has proven to be such a strong car that it has kickstarted the creation of a brand-new single-make series. We are extremely satisfied with SADEV’s partnership and are already working on other future projects featuring their transmissions."
